US and metric system

From a currently active TidBITS-Talk thread: "Only three countries in the whole
world - USA, Liberia, and Myanmar - have not adopted metric as the
official measurement system."

Liberia (in western Africa) is just now recovering from an 8-year civil war. Myanmar/Burma (in southeast Asia) has been a military dictatorship since 1962. It's not that the US hasn't tried, however...
